When you see
National Rowing Team athletes glide through the water - there's
a good chance the boat they are rowing has a connection to Walker
Industries. Ever since Walker Industries came on board, the equipment
for every rower on the National Team is world class. The only
stipulation to the donation was that Walker Industries be able to
name the shell in honour of an outstanding individual in the rowing
community or in honour of a Walker family member. 1996 Olympics,
the Men's Lightweight Four Team won a Silver Medal rowing the J.G.
Walker and the Women's Eight won Silver in the Nora D. Walker II.
Walker Industries
looked to support rowing because of the benefits rowing brings to
the rower and our many communities. Right from the beginning,
in learning the sport - rowing teaches teamwork, perseverance and
humility. Important lessons in sport, but essential attributes
needed in one's future. Rowing instills in someone a special
personality, which always shines through. It is because of
this character building, we see rowing as an important sport.
