ISO 14064 – An IGRS Achievement!

Integrated Gas Recovery Services Inc. (IGRS) is a partnership company between Walker Industries (WI) and Comcor Environmental Ltd. IGRS develops landfill gas utilization, control and emission reduction projects across Canada and has recently expanded into the market of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reduction Credit trading. Harnessing the methane gas produced by landfill practices, IGRS has the ability to mitigate GHG emissions and provide high quality carbon offsets in the voluntary carbon market.

GHG Emission Reduction Credit trading is an emerging market that currently has limited regulation, increasing the importance of purchasing offsets that meet recognizable standards. IGRS realizes the importance of their business practices on the global climate and has acted on their commitment to the environment by receiving emission reduction verification for two projects under a more rigorous standard called ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 14064.

ISO 14064 – An IGRS AchievementISO 14064 systems and methodologies provide benefits for both project stakeholders and emission reduction beneficiaries, including:

  • High-quality “green” product results = confident buyers
  • Additional clarity and consistency for quantifying, monitoring, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and projects.
  • Conservative approaches = net benefit for the climate (buyers purchase more accurately measured credits to neutralize one’s own emissions).
  • Buyer access to options listed on and transacted through the CSA Clean Projects registry.

ISO 14064 reflects IGRS’ genuine dedication to relevant, complete, consistent, accurate, transparent, and conservative carbon accounting principles and emission reduction practices.

IGRS’ East Landfill – Landfill Gas Recovery and Utilization Project and the Essex-Windsor Regional Landfill Gas Capture and Destruction Project represent the first Ontario landfill gas projects listed on the CSA Clean Projects Registry.
