Arthur Splash Zone Going Strong with Help from Walker

On July 1, during their Canada Day celebration weekend, the Arthur Optimists held a grand opening for a new Splash Zone in Arthur, Ontario. Walker Industries was proud to be a part of the improvement at the Arthur Community Centre grounds, which already includes an arena, two ball diamonds, a pool, a playground and a pavilion.

The Arthur Optimists had a couple of reasons to give back in 2017. They wanted to honour Canada’s 150th year since Confederation and they wanted to celebrate their local club’s 50-year anniversary in the community.

When approached by the Optimists with their splash pad idea, Walker Environmental, a division of Walker Industries (Walker), was happy to contribute as a major sponsor and provide a $10,000 donation toward construction of the pad in addition to $10,000 of in-kind donations. Walker and All Treat (purchased by Walker in 2016), provided several horticultural products and services including Triple Mix, compost, mulch, sod, a brand new sprinkler system and the labour required to make everything just right for the grand opening. Several employees took part during the development in order to help make the grand opening a huge success!

“Giving back to our communities is very important to us, in fact, it’s one of our core values”, said John Fisher, President and CEO of Walker Industries. “Being able to contribute toward something that will bring families together makes it even more rewarding.”

The Splash Zone is wheelchair accessible, includes fountains, buckets and other water features in addition to sunshades, benches and beautiful landscaping.

The following photos show various stages during the development of the pad as well as the grand opening event.
