The Walker Emulsions Burlington location along with its parent company Walker Industries received recognition for their contributions to Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga.

In 2015, Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga received $50,000 for its region from the Walker family and Walker Industries. In 2016, staff from Walker Emulsions assisted in two days of building toward a 13-town home project on Glendor Avenue in Burlington, Ontario.

Melissa Foley, Manager Team Experiences for Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga visited Walker Emulsions on Friday, April 7, 2017 to present the award.  Foley commented,   “we are so touched by the incredible contribution and difference the Walker team has made for our partner families and towards supporting us in completing this project for thirteen deserving families in Halton.   It is as a result of wonderful partners such as Walker Industries/Walker Emulsions that we are able to continue to build more homes for more families in need within our community.  We feel it is very important for their staff  to be able to walk with pride by this plaque in their offices as a reminder of the immeasurable gift they gave of their time and donation towards someone else’s life.”

Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-profit organization working towards a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Habitat homes are built with contributions of building materials, goods and volunteer labour from businesses, along with financial donations from individuals, groups and corporations. The Habitat for Humanity model ensures that low-income families own their homes and no longer rely on social housing subsidies.
