  HISTORY

For a family owned business such as Walker Industries, the "long-term" perspective that has guided the enterprise for more than a century has always included a focus on balancing the impacts of the business with the broad needs of the host community.

The "sustainability" concept has really been around for a very long time. In fact, if an organization plans to be "in business" for the long haul, it makes compelling sense for that organization to ensure that the broad community remain able & willing to continue to host company operations.

Walker Industries has and will continue to make decisions with the "long-term" view and thus there is value in enunciating the Walker Industries approach to sustainability.

• Understand our interactions with the environment so that planning can focus on how to better support the environment, increasing positive environmental impacts and transforming negative impacts into more supportive relationships with the environment.
• Maintain a safe and healthy workplace that upholds fundamental human rights and respects diversity of people and ideas.
