The OSSGA’s Industry Recognition Awards Program recognizes a wide range of activities that contribute to a progressive image of its member aggregate producers and the aggregate industry as a whole.  A key goal is to raise the bar in the industry by highlighting operations that go above and beyond what is required by legislation.

Five of Walker Aggregates’ quarries were awarded the Community Relations Award which recognizes good neighbourly activities, community involvement, media relations, education, and awareness.

The Progressive Rehabilitation award recognizes ongoing progressive rehabilitation at a site in accordance with the original site plan and was awarded to Walker Aggregates’ Anten Mills pit.

Each year the OSSGA also recognizes those member companies who have made a significant contribution to the overall health and safety of the aggregate industry through two safety awards programs – Individual Safety Awards and Corporate Safety Awards.

Seven of Walker Aggregates’ quarries were recognized with the Corporate Safety Award for zero lost time injuries and Walker Aggregates employee Jamie Little proudly accepted an Individual Safety Award for his outstanding safety activities and abilities.

“These awards are a true reflection of the hard work of all of our employees as well as our commitment to the environment, and to the communities in which we operate”, said Ken Lucyshyn, Executive Vice President at Walker Aggregates. “Everyone should be proud of what we have accomplished as a team and as a Company.”

The Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association is a non-profit industry association representing nearly 300 sand, gravel, and crushed stone producers and suppliers. Walker Aggregates is honoured to have been recognized for its above and beyond approach.
