Duntroon Expansion Project Overview
- The existing quarry is located at Lot 24, Concession 12 (south side of County Road 91), Clearview Township (north of Singhampton, west of Duntroon).
- Proposed license area includes Part of Lot 25, Concession 12 and a small sliver of Lot 25, Concession 11, on the north side of County Road 91 (formerly Miller/MacDonald/MacGowan properties). The proposed license area includes the proposed extraction area and additional buffer land.
- Total proposed license area is 189.5 acres, with approximately 168.8 acres planned for extraction purposes.
- Approximately 20.7 acres of the proposed license area will be buffer land.
- Proposed extraction area would yield an approximate 30 to 40-year supply of limestone at our current level of extraction.
- Extraction would take place below the water table.
- Property would be developed in three phases to mitigate the impact on drainage and to allow for progressive rehabilitation of the site.
- Amendments are necessary to the Niagara Escarpment designation and the Township of Clearview Official Plan . Applications have been submitted, together with supporting impact studies, to these agencies and are currently under review.
- Applications are also required for a Niagara Escarpment Commission Development Permit, Aggregates Resource Act license application (Ministry of Natural Resources), fill permits from the Nottawasaga and Grey Sauble Conservation Authorities, and a water-taking permit from the Ministry of the Environment.
