The Sarnia facility has been operating continuously since March 2001. The Sarnia Pollution Control Centre provides conventional secondary treatment. There were digesters prior to 2001 which were shut down when the N-Viro® process was installed. The combined biosolids are dewatered through centrifuges to 26-30% total solids.
The City of Sarnia owns and operates the facility and Walker Environmental provides technical and marketing support under a long-term contract.
The Sarnia facility is located at the city’s Water Pollution Control Centre property, near the St. Clair River. It serves a population of approximately 75,000.
Approximately 10,000 product tonnes of Sarnia N-Rich® is produced per year.
