Pathstone Mental Health is the provider of mental health services in the Niagara region which assisted 7,362 children, youth, and their families last year. The Mending Children’s Minds campaign has been quietly raising funds throughout the region, and the Walker donation brings the total amount raised to $3.5 million of the $5-million goal.  The campaign began with a $1-million gift from the Branscombe Family Foundation.

As a family and business with strong roots in the Niagara community for more than 125 years, the Walker shareholders are pleased to be able to contribute to the mental well-being of children and their families in the region.  This continues the legacy of philanthropy established by previous generations of the family.

With the success of the fundraising to date, construction of the new facility is scheduled to begin this summer, with completion in 2015.  The building will be located on the south-east corner of Fourth Avenue and Third Street Louth in St. Catharines. The revenue generated through leased offices in the new treatment facility will result in 400 additional children receiving mental health treatment every year.
